Armed with their unique capabilities, they dive into piles of colorful, squishy play dough, sniff vibrant flowers to identify them, and listen to the secret language of the wind rustling through the tall Texan trees. Their leader, Chuckles the Chinchilla, is a giggling, bouncy furball who loves nothing more than a good belly laugh. Chuckles, born in the heart of Houston, has a special knack for sensory play. He guides the kids on their missions, encouraging them to touch different textures, taste various flavors, and hear a plethora of sounds. With his cowboy hat at a jaunty angle and a lasso of rainbow-colored yarn, Chuckles says, "Y'all ready for a rodeo of the senses?" And the kids reply with a resounding, "Yeehaw!" They navigate through giggling gel beads, orchestrate concerts with musical water glasses, and create masterpieces with fragrant paints. In the end, after a day of sensory shenanigans, Chuckles the Chinchilla and the Sensory Superheroes watch the Texas sunset, its colors painting the sky. Their hearts full of joy, their minds brimming with newfound knowledge, they look forward to another day of exploring the magnificent world of sensory play in the endless adventure that is Texas.

Since 1947, we have been offering a unique residential camping experience for individuals with disabilities. At Camp Summit, we focus on what our campers can do, rather than what they can't. We offer a variety of traditional camp activities, all of which are adapted to each individual's needs and abilities. Our facilities are completely barrier-free, and our staff is not only well-trained, but also deeply caring. Campers are grouped by age, allowing them to build friendships within their peer groups, all while having a great time and embarking on new adventures. Situated on a beautiful 460-acre plot in Paradise, Texas, just north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Camp Summit is the ideal location for a safe and fun camping experience. We are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed as a Youth Camp in the State of Texas. Our campers may have physical challenges, developmental delays, dual-sensory impairments, or multiple disabilities. However, we welcome all campers, regardless of the severity of their disabilities, as long as we can medically meet their needs. We fully understand the concerns you may have about your child's safety and well-being, which is why we have an on-site medical staff and up-to-date nursing facilities. We hold the distinction of being the city's premier Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Center (PPECC). Our center is engineered with a focus on catering to the delicate requirements of medically fragile or complex children. We open our arms to little ones as young as six weeks and as mature as 20 years. Our understanding of these children’s unique needs has allowed us to shape our services to ensure both their comfort and growth. At Joycare, we value a holistic approach to care that transcends mere medical services. Our team of proficient nurses delivers exceptional care throughout the day, yet our service umbrella extends far beyond. We offer speech, physical, and occupational therapy to foster the comprehensive development of the child. We believe in diversifying a child's life experiences, hence our programs incorporate music, art, and pet therapy. We also extend our services to non-verbal children with the inclusion of sign language, and offer educational classes to families at no additional cost. Additionally, we facilitate transportation and operate an 8-week therapeutic summer camp. Our latest inclusion is a Telehealth Speech Therapy service, designed to make therapy more accessible. We firmly believe that education is a cornerstone in every child's life, and we strive to offer optimal learning opportunities for our children. We provide a FREE educational program led by a certified teacher, inclusive of a special education curriculum for home-schooled children and a virtual school assistance program. Our goal is to ensure that no child's educational progression is hindered due to their health conditions. Our bilingual (Spanish) staff are on-hand to cater to a diverse range of families and to ensure that language doesn't stand as an obstacle to receiving premium care and education.
