Their leader is Doodle the Moose, a cheeky, chocolate brown moose with a paintbrush that grows straight out of his antlers. Doodle is not your usual moose; he can turn a mere scribble into a masterpiece with a single swoosh of his antler-brush. He's been known to paint the Northern Lights using just wild berries and sunrise hues using maple syrups. He wears a beret made from woven pine needles and an apron stitched together from soft fern leaves. These Art-Rangers and Doodle spend their days immersed in the enchanting world of Art & Crafts, creating, laughing, and transforming the ordinary into extraordinary. Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
Since 1915, the YMCA Camp of Maine has been dedicated to fulfilling the principles symbolized by the YMCA triangle, developing mind, body, and spirit for all. Located on the shores of Lake Cobbosseecontee, the camp is situated on over 300 acres of pine tree forests, meadows, and fresh water ponds. YMCA Camp of Maine offers one and two-week overnight sessions for boys and girls ages 7 - 16. Our campers have the opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that is designed to promote individual development while enhancing self-confidence, teamwork, and leadership. Our dedicated staff provides guidance and support, while promoting campers’ independence and creativity. We offer a wide variety of activities that range from adventure and nature activities to swimming, canoeing, archery, and much more.
Parents, give your kids the experience of a lifetime at Camp Mechuwana! Our summer camp program runs from mid-June through mid-August and is located on more than 200 acres of forest land. We offer 40 different weekly camps ranging from day camp, trip and travel camps, canoe camps, swim camps, music and theater camps, special needs camp, and creative arts camp. Our camp borders Lower Narrows Pond and Lake Annabessacook, and features nature trails, boat dock, a swimming area, cabins, theatre, chapel, dining hall, basketball courts, and a sports field. At Mechuwana, we create a caring and supportive community for all ages and grades, and host specialty camps for Moms and Dads and their kids, as well as Grandparents and their grandchildren. We also have a retreat center located in the foothills of Maine, and host non-profit groups year-round. Each season brings a new life to the camp, and we encourage everyone to come and enjoy God's creation in this special place.
