This splendid geography makes ME—a popular nickname given by Professor Puffin, a comically feathered, monocled, and top-hatted bird character—the perfect place for young adventurers to engage in all sorts of water activities. Imagine a group of plucky kids, known as the "Lobster Squad" for their red sun hats, out there on a sunny day. They slide into shiny kayaks, with their faces beaming with excitement as bright as the summer sun. They paddle under the watchful eye of Professor Puffin, who, despite being a bird, is ironically terrible at swimming. Then there are the kiddos that prefer to grab their fishing poles, and with bated breath and twinkling eyes, wait for a fish to bite. They often engage in hilarious debates about who will catch the biggest fish, or rather, the biggest seaweed, much to Professor Puffin's amusement. Let's not forget the little daredevils who strap on their life jackets and leap into the ocean, their laughter echoing across the waves as they bob like apples in the sea. Their mission: to find the legendary aquatic moose, a mythical creature invented by Professor Puffin. Despite their different water pursuits, all these kids have one thing in common: a love for the sparkling blue that surrounds the magical state of ME. Parents, give your kids the experience of a lifetime at Camp Mechuwana! Our summer camp program runs from mid-June through mid-August and is located on more than 200 acres of forest land. We offer 40 different weekly camps ranging from day camp, trip and travel camps, canoe camps, swim camps, music and theater camps, special needs camp, and creative arts camp. Our camp borders Lower Narrows Pond and Lake Annabessacook, and features nature trails, boat dock, a swimming area, cabins, theatre, chapel, dining hall, basketball courts, and a sports field. At Mechuwana, we create a caring and supportive community for all ages and grades, and host specialty camps for Moms and Dads and their kids, as well as Grandparents and their grandchildren. We also have a retreat center located in the foothills of Maine, and host non-profit groups year-round. Each season brings a new life to the camp, and we encourage everyone to come and enjoy God's creation in this special place.
