In the charming land of Wisconsin, also known as the Cheese State, a troupe of very special children has taken the stage. These incredible kids participate in a magical activity called Theater/Drama and they are something extraordinary. Our story's setting might be known for its dairy delights, but it is also the playground for these young actors. The fields of corn grow tall but not as tall as the dreams of these young thespians. Now, let's introduce you to our imaginary character, Willy the Wisecracking Weasel, the director of this motley crew. Picture a weasel in a sparkly top hat and a stylish cape, always ready with a cheesy joke. "Why couldn’t the bike find its way home? Because it's two-tired," he'd squeak, causing a chorus of giggles to erupt. These kids, under Willy’s direction, aren't just any kids. They're cheese heads with a flair for the dramatic! They dive headfirst into the world of make-believe, turning the normal into the nonsensical. They can bring you to tears or make your belly ache from laughter. They perform under the bright Wisconsin stars, using tractors as their stage and haystacks for their seats. In this story, we'll meet Lily, who plays a princess better than Cinderella, and Sam, the master of funny faces. Then there's Jake, who can become a fearsome dragon with just a bit of green paint. With their whimsical portrayals and unfettered enthusiasm, these Wisconsin kids prove that the world is indeed a stage, and they are ready to perform. So, grab a block of cheese, sit back, and get ready to laugh and cry with the drama kings and queens of Wisconsin.

Katie Behrend Berg is an impressive young woman. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a degree in Theatre and Business, and then went on to study at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned a BFA in Musical Theatre. She has been performing with various groups for over fifteen years, bringing her experience to the stage with University Theatre-Madison, Waukesha Civic Theatre, Lake Country Playhouse, Theatre on Main, Accent on Dance, To the Point, and the Arrowhead High School Broadway Company. In addition to her impressive performance background, Katie is also a teacher. She is the Lake Country Playhouse Education Director and Production Director for Brookfield Center for the Arts. She specializes in helping her students access and expand their natural voices in a healthy manner. She also provides tools to help her students use their voices for a variety of musical styles. She uses her knowledge to teach her students how to break down components of vocal and performance work to help them problem solve and ultimately improve the performance as a whole. The arts can be a ton of fun, but it also helps develop essential life skills. Katie strives to create a safe, constructive and creative learning environment for her students, so they can become more confident and develop vital life skills that will help them in all settings, not just on the stage.
