Every day, these gallant sailors and their Captain embark on thrilling journeys, riding glistening waves atop their sleek boats and canoes. They out-paddle the squawking seagulls and race the speedy salmon, their laughter echoing across the water. Sometimes, they even out-row Otis the Old Sea Otter, who forgets where his glasses are and ends up wearing seaweed on his head, thinking it’s his cap! Oh, the fun these kids have! Their cheeks glow pink with excitement and their eyes sparkle brighter than the stars at night. They are the boating champions of Maine, the masters of merriment, and the kings and queens of canoeing. Since 1936, Hog Island Audubon Camp has been providing adults, families and teens with a unique educational experience. Each summer, campers are led by respected naturalists and environmental educators, inspiring future scientists, educators, and conservation leaders. The special history of the camp and island will be explored in the coming years, as we celebrate 80 years of the camp’s existence. Hog Island Audubon Camp is a special place where you can connect with nature and learn about the history of the island and camp.
