Larry, a fuzzy, spotted, turbo-charged llama, was a pro in Field Hockey, with a slap shot that could break the speed of sound. Larry's crew was as diverse as a jumbo bag of jelly beans. Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Pilgrim Skating Arena, founded by the founders of the Pilgrim Hockey Association, is more than just a place to skate. It's a platform for developing individual character, responsibility, and team contribution. The motto “The Rink That Teaches” speaks to its mission of teaching life skills in a fun, safe and friendly environment. On any given weekend during the hockey season, over eight thousand skaters, parents, siblings and fans come to the Arena, ranging in age from 2 through 70+. Pilgrim is the home to local Boys and Girls town and High School teams, Skating Clubs, Learn-to-Skate programs and numerous year-round Hockey Leagues and Camps. It is even proud of the fact that a number of players have gone on to successful college and pro hockey careers.
