Once upon a time, in the charming state of Connecticut, nestled between New York and Rhode Island, lived a group of extraordinary kids known as the "Splashtacular Swimmers". Their leader, a buoyant boy named Bob, was no bigger than a beluga but swam quicker than a quokka can climb. Bob had a slick, shiny head which he claimed made him swim faster. The Splashtacular Swimmers could be found at sunrise, cutting through the calm waters of the Connecticut River like hot knives through ice cream. They held races in Lake Compounce, leaving trails of laughter and light-hearted competition in their wake. Even during the chilly winter days, they'd plunge into the indoor pools, their chattering teeth turned into roars of laughter once they were under the heated water. They were a diverse group, hailing from the bustling cities of Hartford and New Haven, the tranquil countryside of Litchfield Hills, and the shoreline towns of Mystic and New London. But despite their different backgrounds, they all shared one thing in common: a love for swimming that was as deep as the Long Island Sound itself. One might say the Splashtacular Swimmers were as much a part of Connecticut as its lush green landscapes, picturesque lighthouses, and delightful lobster rolls. At Camp Pyquag, we are dedicated to providing children with an engaging and fun summer camp experience. Our camp is situated at Hanmer Elementary in Wethersfield and is the top camp in the Tri-Town region. Our progressive programming is designed to be participant-based and includes both indoor and outdoor activities. Examples of these activities include swimming, hiking, sports, games, drama, arts & crafts, and biweekly trips and special events. Our staff is made up of caring adults, all of whom have received 40 hours of training. Camp Pyquag is a State of Connecticut licensed and American Camp Association certified summer day camp, providing kids with a safe and enjoyable environment. With all of these amenities and activities, your child is sure to have an adventure-filled summer!
Located in Wethersfield, Connecticut, the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center offers families and nature-lovers of all ages an exciting opportunity to explore and learn about the natural world! Under the supervision of the Town of Wethersfield Parks & Recreation Department, the center includes live animals, hands-on exhibits, and a reading/game corner, all available without an admission fee but with a suggested donation of $3. For those looking to deepen their connection with the Center, the Friends of the EBW Nature Center program offers unlimited free admission!
