Once upon a time, in the enchanting land of Vermont, nestled within lush green mountains and serene lakes, lived a bunch of sprightly young adventurers. They were known as the "Wacky Water Weasels," a name inspired by their slick skills in boating and canoeing. Vermont, the land of maple syrup, had a magical charm that made even the trees sway with joy. The state was covered in a beautiful blanket of emerald during summer, and the lakes sparkled under the sun like a thousand diamonds. The air was always filled with laughter, splashes, and the soft whispers of the wind. The Wacky Water Weasels, a group of kids as diverse as the colors in a Vermont fall, were known for their zany adventures. They were the happiest when they donned their life jackets, ready to paddle their way through the magical waters. They jumped into their boats and canoes, paddling like eager beavers on an energy drink. It was a sight to behold! Their leader, a funny little chap named Squirtle McPaddleface, was an expert in making everyone giggle with his hilarious pirate imitations. Squirtle McPaddleface was a real character with his oversized captain’s hat and his trusty rubber duck, Quackers, who always rode shotgun. His motto was, "A day spent without a splash is a day wasted." He would steer his boat with the finesse of a seasoned sailor, often spinning tales of legendary water dragons and secret treasure islands. Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
Camp Downer is the perfect place for kids to have an incredible summer experience! Located in the 705-acre Downer State Forest in Vermont, the camp features a wide variety of activities for your children to enjoy. Campers can take part in aquatics, arts, athletics, nature, and shooting sports, such as boating, swimming, water aerobics, crafts, dance, drama, photography, singing, disc golf, basketball, volleyball, assorted lawn and field games, a low ropes course adventure, earth arts, fishing, outdoor living, archery, and riflery. With fourteen sleeping cabins, a recreation hall, dining hall, crafts and nature cabins, a recreation field, an archery range, a rifle range, basketball/volleyball courts, a disc golf course, and miles of hiking trails, there is something for everyone at Camp Downer!
