In the tiny but mighty state of Rhode Island, a group of super-duper cool kids spend their sunshiny days playing in the soil. Now, don't go thinking these kids are just ordinary dig-in-the-mud, make-a-mess sort of kids. Oh no! These are Rhode Island's finest, green-thumb wielding, vegetable-ridden, garden ninjas! Rhode Island, affectionally called RI, is like a pea in a pod, a tiny state with all the goodness packed in. RI is situated in the New England part of the USA, surrounded by majestic sea waves and charming lighthouses. In this small but sprouting state, the kids take gardening to a whole new level, a level that would make even a carrot stand up straight with pride! The leader of the pack, a funky scarecrow named Captain Compost, guides them on their gardening adventures. With his straw hat perched slightly askew and his plaid shirt as colorful as a rainbow after rain, Captain Compost is not just any old scarecrow. He can bust out the worm dance like nobody's business and has been known to make a tomato blush with his hilarious veggie jokes. These Rhode Island kids and Captain Compost team up to plant seeds of fun and grow gardens of laughter. They water the earth with their giggles and fertilize the soil with their excitement. Every day, they harvest the fruits of their labor, picking shiny red tomatoes, plump blueberries, and curly green beans, all while sharing stories, jokes, and the occasional mud pie. Life in RI is full of surprises, and so are these garden ninjas. They’ll have you laughing so hard, you might just sprout a leaf or two!

What began in a humble New York City apartment with just a single student, Spark, has since blossomed into an enriching program impacting thousands of children. Our unique educational approach combines the elements of art, yoga, meditation, and nature to create a holistic learning environment. This distinctive blend is what sets Spark apart, allowing us to reach and inspire a multitude of children in truly meaningful ways. With an array of offerings to accommodate various schedules and needs, Spark has something for everyone. Our services extend beyond the standard after school and weekend classes to include holiday and summer camps, birthday parties, portfolio preparation, private classes, and custom pods. We also welcome homeschool groups and are thrilled to announce the recent addition of a forest school program to our repertoire. You can find Spark on-site in various schools and at our main studio located in the Upper West Side. But we're not stopping there - we're also planning to expand to the Upper East Side and Brooklyn. For our families in Pennsylvania, we run the program from our family studio there. And if you're not in close proximity to any of our locations, don't worry. We offer in-home instruction and virtual options to ensure that Spark can reach you, no matter where you are. At YWCA Rhode Island, we are proud to offer a wide range of programs that have a real impact on the advancement of gender equality and racial justice. To empower young women, we have developed unique programs such as Rosie's Girls STEM skills and the Fantastic Girltastic Code Company™. We also host an annual Stand Against Racism event, which brings together individuals dedicated to working towards a more equal society. Our services are available at our three campus locations in Central Falls, Providence, and Woonsocket, allowing us to serve a larger range of people across the state.
