These little explorers, equipped with their magical hiking boots and enchanted binoculars, spend their days interacting with the treasure that is nature. Our mischievous guide on this grand adventure is a jolly, bespectacled moose named Monty. Monty is not your average moose, oh no. This moose has the ability to speak in a British accent that could charm the squirrels right out of their trees and he wears neon-green hiking boots, not exactly the typical moose attire. Monty has a heart as big as a sunflower and he is particularly fond of Maine's little explorers. These bold Wild Adventurers are known for their audacious escapades, climbing the tallest pine trees and diving into the deepest blueberry bushes. They paddle their canoes in the vast lakes, fish with the otters, and have friendly maple syrup chugging contests with Monty. They feel the cool breeze in their hair, the fresh pine smell in their noses, and the whispers of the wind as it rustles through the leaves, telling tales of past adventures. These kids aren't just playing; they're learning the language of the wilderness, acquiring morsels of wisdom from the forest themselves. For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
Summer camp is a unique experience that cannot be found in any other classroom. Opening and closing circle is just a hint of the wonderful world of summer camp that families can experience. From building fairy houses to using a curry comb on a horse, the activities that campers can participate in are diverse and exciting. Beyond the exciting activities, campers and counselors return year after year to experience the magic moments that are found at camp. Whether it’s playing flashlight tag on an overnight, swimming in the pool, or climbing the tire on the vertical playground, the memories made at camp are cherished and often shared.
Furthermore, our enrichment classes and parent support groups provide opportunities for connection and growth. We offer educational music and movement classes, storytelling, and art and science classes, all taught by our experienced educators. Our parent support groups are facilitated by experts in the field of child development and offer a safe and supportive space for parents to share their experiences and ask questions.
