Once upon a time, in the sun-soaked grandeur of the Golden State, California, the land of beaches, tacos, and movie stars, lived an extraordinary bunch of kids. Unlike most youngsters who were busy dueling with video game controllers, these kids were part of an elite team called the "Arrow Avengers," and they were mastering the ancient art of archery.

Leading the Arrow Avengers was a character cooler than a polar bear's toenails and funnier than a monkey's uncle. His name was Archibald the Amazing Archer, or as his friends called him, Archie. Archie was not your typical archer. He was a spaghetti-loving, sunglasses-wearing squirrel who could shoot an arrow with an accuracy that would make Olympic champions green with envy.

Archie and his knee-slappingly hilarious troop of tiny archers, trained under the Californian sunshine, transforming parking lots into archery arenas, using palm trees as bow holders. Archie's humor was as sharp as his arrows, and his laughter was infectious. His favorite joke was, "Why don't archers tell secrets? Because they always go straight to the point!" 

The Arrow Avengers were a laugh riot, a bunch of archery-obsessed comedians, shooting arrows and punchlines with equal skill. They embodied the spirit of California - full of life, laughter, and a dash of the extraordinary. Each arrow they shot was not just a piece of sharpened wood soaring through the air, but a symbol of their joy, ambition, and unique Californian spirit. They were more than just archers; they were the heart of the Golden State, the merry marksmen of California.

Camp provides a safe and secure environment for children to learn, grow, and have fun. Campers and staff are empowered to become leaders, to develop spiritual and personal growth, and to build lasting friendships. We provide an opportunity for campers to learn to navigate life’s challenges and serve the broader community. We believe that each person can have a positive influence on our world and to that end, we use the example of a young seminarian named Michael. His example of reaching out to others, helping them, and using the gifts and talents God gave him serves as an inspiration for campers and staff alike. 

At camp, campers are surrounded by nature and taught to respect the environment. Through our Nature Program, campers learn the Leave-No-Trace wilderness ethic and the names of local trees and plants. We ask campers and staff to respect all life and avoid the unnecessary picking of leaves or killing of bugs. Campers are encouraged to take this "Michael-like" spirit home with them, helping to make our world more loving and life-giving.

Tumbleweed Day Camp

Shawna DeGrange, or “Charm” as she is known on the ranch, has been a part of the Cloverleaf Camp team since 1999. Since 2003, Charm has been the Camp Director and is a third-generation owner/Director. Her educational background includes Early Childhood Development with minors in tennis, dance, and horse mastership. She is also certified as a rifle instructor and archery instructor, and heads up the American Camp Association’s Accreditation Team. In addition to her camp experience, Charm has also been employed by Southern California Girls, Inc., a program dedicated to assisting young women in achieving personal success.

Charm has also been committed to her local community. She has worked with organizations like local Rotary clubs, volunteered as a mentor in the “Girls on the Run” program, joined and supported BRONC (Barn and Ranch Owners of Norther California), and served as president of the Mark West Chamber of Commerce. In 2012, she established the non-profit Charm’s Place, which provides scholarships for camp to children in need. Her dedication to her local community was recognized in 2015 when she was awarded the Spirit of Sonoma Award.

Ron DeGrange has been involved in all aspects of the Cloverleaf camp since 1963. He holds a California Community College credential in physical education and horsemastership, and is in charge of the Food Service Program. Ginger DeGrange, Charm’s mother, also holds credentials as a French and English instructor and has been a Horse Science instructor since 1971 at Santa Rosa Junior College. A talented rider, Ginger has won many awards, including Grand National Rodeo Queen in 1963, Sonoma County Rodeo Queen in 1964, and California State Rodeo Princess in 1966.

Tom Sawyer Camps has been a beloved tradition in the Pasadena area since 1926. Every summer, campers ages 3-14 from all over the area get to experience carefree outdoor activities in a rustic setting in the Hahamongna Watershed Park. The camp day is split between scheduled activities such as swimming, horseback riding, archery, and rock wall climbing, and free time where campers can explore and create in the wilderness. During free time, campers can build forts, create dams in the mud river, and complete imaginative challenges. All of these experiences provide campers with an opportunity to get back to nature, just like Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher did in the classic literature.

Camp Butano Creek, owned and operated by the Girl Scouts of Northern California, is the perfect spot for budding adventurers. Girls entering grades 4-12 in the fall are invited to join us for a summer filled with self-discovery and nature exploration. From the Pacific coastline to the coastal mountains, there are plenty of exciting activities to choose from, such as: surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, horseback riding and field archery. Plus, campers in their 11th grade have the chance to take part in our Counselor-In-Training program.

Our mission is to introduce these children to the life-changing and healing reality of Jesus Christ, and to equip them to lead meaningful and productive lives. 

Camp Alandale offers summer and winter camp programs for children ages 9-18. We keep our camp sessions intentionally small so that each child receives the proper amount of supervision, love, and care they need to feel safe, valued, and protected. Our goal is to have a 2:1 camper-to-counselor ratio in the summer and a 1:1 camper-to-counselor ratio in the winter, depending on the size of the group. 

At Camp Alandale, we believe that every child deserves a safe and loving environment to heal from the pain of their past. Our goal is to provide these children with the opportunity to learn more about God and discover his grace and mercy in a safe and nurturing environment. We hope to give them the tools they need to lead a meaningful and productive life.

Camp Crescent Moon is a unique camp experience specifically designed for children with sickle cell disease. This week-long, sleep away camp provides a safe and supportive environment for campers to bond with friends, explore nature, and make memories. The camp is staffed with medical professionals who are experienced in the management and care of sickle cell disease, ensuring the safety of all campers. Camp Crescent Moon offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for children with sickle cell disease to take part in a traditional camp setting, something that would otherwise be impossible due to the potential serious complications that can arise at elevations above 5,000 feet.

Jerry and Paula Baker founded Camp Tuolumne Trails in 2002, inspired by their own experiences caring for a son with a brain tumor. Their goal is to provide a safe and meaningful experience for all of their campers, especially those with disabilities. Tuolumne Trails is staffed by highly qualified year-round professionals and skilled seasonal employees and provides a supportive environment for healing, respite, education and recreation. The Bakers are dedicated to helping those with disabilities and those who support them, and are committed to making sure their campers have the best possible experience.
