Once upon a time, in the sun-splashed, heartwarming state of Alabama (or AL as we adorably call it), there's a quirky bunch of kids. They are the superheroes of imagination, the wizards of creativity- they are the 'Art & Crafts' kids! They wield paintbrushes like wands, splash colors like magic, and mold clay like it's a piece of cake! Our hero is a googly-eyed, big-hearted fluffball named Artie. He's not your usual hero; he's made of paintbrushes and crayons! He's got a pencil for a nose, googly eyes, and a body that's a burst of colors. He’s a funny, charming little fellow who loves to giggle, especially when tickled with a feather paintbrush! In the magical land of AL, the kids and Artie are always up to something. Moving hands as swift as hummingbird wings, they create magic with glue, glitter, paper, and paint. Transforming mundane things into things of beauty, they make rainbows look pale with their artwork. The kids love Artie, and Artie adores the kids. Together, they explore the limitless universe of creativity, where each craft is a new adventure. They journey on paper boats, live in cardboard castles, and create an enchanting world that only they understand. Each day is a riot of colors, a symphony of creativity, and a cacophony of laughter. And, oh boy, the mess they make! But in AL, messy is the new cool. And so, Artie and his gang, with their vivid imaginations and artful hands, paint the town red... and blue... and green... and every color you can think of! Nestled in 178 acres of lush woodland is a serene escape from the city, a place fondly known as Camp Swamp. This overnight Christian camp, located just two hours east of bustling Atlanta, has been serving as a peaceful retreat since 1992. We like to think of it as our own "little slice of heaven," offering a respite from the daily hustle and bustle, and inviting people to reconnect with nature and their spirituality. Our primary offering is a week-long summer camp, but we've expanded over the years to include more than just summer fun. As part of our mission to support families and churches, we now also host three family camps throughout the year, as well as four parent/child retreats. These events offer a chance for families to bond, parents to connect with their children, and individuals to grow in their faith. Moreover, our facilities are not exclusive to our organized events. Camp Swamp also offers rentals to schools, churches, universities, sports teams, and even business groups. Whether you're planning a camp, a retreat, or a team-building excursion, our serene setting and well-equipped facilities provide the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
At Camp St. Bernard, we strive to make sure that each camper feels welcome and at home. We are a family here, and our staff is made up of alumni and current students who have a deep connection to the campus. Every day brings a chance to make new friends, try new things, and spend quality time with familiar faces. We offer a range of activities, from sports to arts and crafts, and our spiritual component is rooted in the Catholic faith but open to campers of all backgrounds. What's more, our meals are cooked by a monk and cater to most dietary restrictions, so everyone is well-fed and ready to have fun. To ensure that parents can keep up with their children's experience, we take pictures every day and post them in the evening. Our residence halls are cozy and comfortable, and we do our best to accommodate roommate requests. Ultimately, we want campers to feel like they are part of something special at Camp St. Bernard.
