Deep in the heart of Texas, where the rivers carve the landscape and cattle roam free, a group of extraordinary kids have carved out a niche of their own. They are not cowboys, nor are they ranchers. These kids are the karate masters of the Lone Star State. Their dojo isn't a dusty barn or a shiny skyscraper, nope, it's the great outdoors under the wide Texas sky. Our story begins with a ten-gallon hat wearing armadillo named Tex. Now, don't let Tex's small stature fool you. He may be short, but he packs a punch. He is the sensei, the guide for these karate kiddos. With his cowboy drawl, he hollers, "Alright y'all, let's get this show on the road. Chop-chop!" Karate chopping, that is. These kids are a motley crew. There's Sam, the lanky, freckled redhead with a high kick that'll knock the stars out of your eyes. Then there's Bella, the tall, quiet brunette with a roundhouse punch that could send a tumbleweed soaring into the sunset. And who could forget about the Rodriguez twins, Jose and Maria, whose synchronized karate moves could stun a rattlesnake. Each day, these karate kids gather under the wide open sky, surrounded by wildflowers and cacti. Tex, with his cowboy boots and furry fists, pushes them to their limits. They sweat, they groan, they tumble into the Texas dust, but they never give up. Because they're not just any kids; they're Texas karate kids. And in Texas, when the going gets tough, the tough get karate-chopping. So next time you're in Texas and you see a dust cloud on the horizon, it might just be our karate kids, practicing their high kicks and punches, all under the watchful eye of a ten-gallon hat wearing armadillo named Tex.

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.

Every day at KECamps promises a unique and thrilling adventure. No two camp days are identical, ensuring that each day is a fresh, exciting experience for our young campers. We kickstart our days with 'Hello Camp', a morning gathering that allows everyone to mingle and bond. The campers and staff participate in a range of organized activities, allowing them to get to know each other better. We also go over the day's schedule and harmonize our special camp song, building a sense of unity and anticipation for the day ahead. As the day progresses, the campers will be engaged in numerous activities, ensuring they're constantly stimulated and entertained. Each activity is designed to keep our campers active, challenged, and having fun. They'll be immersed in a diverse mix of experiences throughout the day, fostering personal growth, new friendships, and unforgettable memories. We wind down each day with 'Goodbye Camp'. This is a time for campers to reflect on their day's experiences, participate in concluding activities, and share their thoughts. It's also when we hand out SMILE Bands and provide snacks. Finally, as we begin to part ways, we say our "see you later's", leaving the campers excited and eager for the next day's adventures at KECamps.
