He would zip from the misty Blue Ridge Mountains to the sunny, sandy beaches of Myrtle Beach within the blink of an eye! He was the fastest creature in all of South Carolina and inspired all the kids to run marathons. These kids were unlike ordinary children. They had an insatiable appetite for adventure, a thirst for speed, and a hearty laugh that could be heard from Charleston to Greenville. From the break of dawn, they would lace up their sneakers, put on their peachy sun hats, and embark on fun-filled marathons! Now, you must be wondering, why marathons? Well, they believed marathons were not just about running; they were adventures on foot! These marathons took them through the breathtaking landscapes of South Carolina, from the historic plantations to the shimmering lakes and the magnificent state parks.
