They were famously known as the "Rhode Island Reef Rangers." These pint-sized explorers, half human and half fish (not really, but they spent so much time in the water, you'd think they were), loved nothing more than diving into the sparkling blue waters surrounding their beloved state and searching for underwater treasures. Now, you might think, "Snorkeling in Rhode Island? That's not Hawaii!" But these kids knew better. For them, the waters of Rhode Island held as many wonders and mysteries as any tropical paradise. They had their secret weapon, Blubberbelly Billy, an imaginary giant squid who was a master of underwater hide and seek. On their aquatic quests, they discovered everything from shimmering sea glass to funny-faced flounders, which they'd name and add to their imaginary aquarium.
