For 16 years, Middletown Dance Academy has been providing quality dance instruction to the residents of Middletown Township and the surrounding towns. Their range of classes includes Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Tap, and Acro. Owner and Director, Miss Alyson Higgins, has assembled a team of dedicated instructors who strive to meet their students’ needs. With their love of dance and supportive personalities, they work to ensure that each student experiences the joy of dancing and the sense of accomplishment that comes with it. At Middletown Dance Academy, they believe that passion is not something you are born with, but something that is achieved through hard work and learning. The staff use their supportive attitude, enthusiastic teaching methods, and friendly atmosphere to inspire the natural creativity of their students and to help them develop a passion for dance. It doesn’t matter if your dancer is two or an adult, they can find the passion for dance at Middletown Dance Academy. Combo: Ballet/Tap/Jazz (Age: 3-6)

These fun-filled combo classes will introduce your little dancer to the basics of Ballet, Jazz or Tap (depending on the Combo class selected). Combo classes are appropriate for newcomers and the children with experience in preschool dance.

Mommy and Me: (Age: 18 months -3 years)

With Moms close by, this program is designed specifically for two-year olds to develop their gross motor skills, coordination, movement creativity, physical development and body and social awareness. This class is a great way to introduce your child to a dance program. After completing Mommy and Me, children are ready for our Preschool program. Mommy and Me participates in the recital.

Ballet

Ballet is taught at all class levels, stressing proper technique and placement. It includes traditional barre and center work designed to build a beautiful, graceful, and healthy body with fine posture and poise. With sufficient study of ballet, proper technique and a strong body, a dancer may advance to Pointe work. Pointe is an extension of ballet training — taught with Pointe shoes. Today ballet is seen in many different forms. One sees modern ballets choreographed to very modern music, but many still prefer the traditional type of footwork in ballets like “Swan Lake.” Ballet interprets music through a variety of accepted movements. More modern forms may incorporate elements from other dance traditions. Ballet is one of the building blocks of dance and is encouraged at MDA in your dance education.
