About Durham Arts Council

The Durham Arts Council, Inc. is the driving force behind bringing art to the city. By providing leadership, inspiration, and promoting access to the arts, DAC is helping to foster a vibrant cultural development in Durham. Through earned revenues, grants, and contributions from corporations, foundations, individuals, as well as support from the City of Durham, Durham County, North Carolina Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts, DAC is able to bring the arts to the people of this community. The mission of DAC is to create an environment in which creativity and the arts are highly valued and seen as positive and transformative forces. By working towards an excellent and sustainable arts and cultural sector, DAC is helping to ensure that Durham is a great place to live and work. The Durham Arts Council, Inc. is committed to making Durham a vibrant and culturally rich city. DAC strives to provide access to and experience of the arts to all members of the community, while also working to make the arts and culture a vital part of Durham’s educational and economic life. Clay Classes
Durham Arts Council’s Clay studio offers pottery classes for beginner through advanced students. Learn to create pottery from the ground up!

School Break Camps
These camps are designed for students’ ages 5 to 12 years old and accommodate year-round and traditional school breaks. Students participate in both visual and performing arts activities that are inspired by the camp theme. Each week has different activities so campers can participate in multiple weeks.

Summer Dance Intensives
This summer dance intensive camp is for beginner and intermediate level dancers that will include creative movement, improvisational exercises, intro to ballet, jazz and contemporary in addition to dance history and choreography. At the end of each week, there will be performance of the Cirque de Dance. The camp is designed so campers have the option of attending for one or more weeks.
