In the majestic state of North Carolina, where blue-ridged mountains touch the sky and coastal beaches sprinkle in the sun, lives a motley crowd of young inventors, scientists, engineers, and artists. These aren’t your average kids. No, siree! They are the STEAM/STEM whiz kids, equipped with a thirst for knowledge and a knack for creativity. Now, let's introduce our cool imaginary character, Professor Beakerhead. With bright, twinkling eyes hidden behind thick goggles, eccentric hair that seems to defy gravity, and a bubbling laugh that echoes through his wacky, gadget-filled laboratory, he is the guiding star of our STEAM/STEM kids. Professor Beakerhead, with a passion for pickles on his pizza and his mismatched socks, is the ideal mentor for our young wizards of NC. These NC kids can design robots that dance, build boats that float in mid-air, concoct potions that change colors, and engineer recycled-art masterpieces that would make Picasso jealous. They aren't afraid to get their hands dirty, whether that means digging up fossils in the Appalachian Mountains or discovering new species of crabs on the Outer Banks. Their minds are like sponges, soaking up information about the world around them and turning it into fabulous creations. But don't let their intellect fool you! They love a good laugh as much as the next kid. Prank wars often ensue with whoopee cushions under seats and invisible ink on reports. The favorite, however, is when they program their robots to serve Professor Beakerhead his least favorite dessert - broccoli ice cream! The STEAM/STEM kids live in a world where learning is an adventure, laughter is the soundtrack, and the possibilities are as wide as the North Carolina sky.

DEBUT Creative Center & Theater-Studio is a dual-language (English–Russian) program where kids explore creativity, confidence, and self-expression. From theater and dance to fencing and stage performance, children can try new activities and discover their unique talents. Small class sizes let instructors give each child personalized attention, helping them feel comfortable, supported, and confident as they learn. Kids build artistic skills while also developing social confidence, teamwork, and poise on stage and in everyday life. Our programs celebrate each child’s individuality, combining fun, hands-on experiences with a focus on personal growth—all while keeping Russian language and culture an important part of the curriculum.

Nancy Barnum Clarke was passionate about providing a unique experience for the young women who came to Rockbrook. She was inspired by the nature around her to create a camp filled with activities that nurtured a connection to the natural world. Outdoor AdventuresNancy designed activities that would get girls outdoors and exploring. She was a firm believer that the best way to build self-esteem and appreciation for nature was to spend time outdoors. She spearheaded hikes, biking trips, and river rafting adventures. Girls also had the chance to learn how to canoe, cook over a campfire, and do other activities that connected them with nature. Life SkillsNancy was also passionate about developing life skills and encouraging personal growth. She believed that nurturing a sense of self-reliance and self-awareness was just as important as outdoor education. Her program included classes on music, art, and craft making. She also taught lessons on respect, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. Girls learned to live together as a community and to take responsibility for their own actions. Nancy Barnum Clarke was a pioneer in the field of outdoor education. Her legacy lives on today in Rockbrook, the camp she established nearly 100 years ago. Her commitment to helping young girls discover the joy and freedom of nature continues to shape the lives of those who visit the camp.
