About Main Stage Center for the Arts

Welcome and thank you for your interest in Main Stage Dance, formerly known as Main Stage Center for the Arts. Founded in 1979, MSCA prided itself on offering quality dance instruction with certified instructors. Main Stage Dance continues with these qualities and aims to provide the very best in dance education. All classes at Main Stage will use only age-appropriate movement, costumes and music. We feel that this is an integral aspect of teaching young dancers proper dance etiquette and the importance of respecting themselves, one another, instructors, parents and the studio space. Movements in class, production choreography, and costumes are always tasteful and appropriate for the age group being taught. Main Stage is a safe, positive, and professional environment for students of all ages. At Main Stage Dance our focus is on the ability of the individual student. Our goal is to help every dancer attain their highest potential as a dancer and as a person. Each child is important to us and receives the same attention, whether they are enrolled in one class or multiple classes per week.

TWINKLING STARS (MUST BE 2.5 BY SEPTEMBER 1ST)

Twinkling Star program consists of three genres of pre-dance over the 10 month dance session. This format keeps the introduction to dance new and exciting. It is intended to give the children a fun first experience in dance and prepares them for future classes. These classes are one half-hour long, once a week, from September through June.

SHOOTING STARS

These classes progress in difficulty for three levels: Shooting Stars I, II, and III. This progression is over a three year span. Your dancer chooses from Ballet, Tap, Jazz and HipHop or can take all four. These classes teach primary steps, terminology, theory and the correct technique required to advance into the next level of classes. Shooting Star Ballet students will have the opportunity to partake in Cecchetti Primary Exams to help assist them in preparation for their future Grade I exam. All Shooting Star Classes are performance classes. Performance is optional. STUDENTS MUST BE 5 YEARS OF AGE BY SEPTEMBER 1ST.

BALLET

This method was developed by Maestro Enrico Cecchetti, which is recognized and utilized all over the world. Laurie Papovich has the honor of achieving the highest level of Cecchetti’s method. Students must be able to execute steps, know theory and terminology, in order to pass an exam and move to the next grade.
