About Island Childrens School

At Island Children's School, we recognize that our students are more than just academic achievers. We strive to create a learning environment that takes into account their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Our founders, Joan Lester and Linda McCarthy, opened our doors back in 1969 with the goal of providing a unique educational experience for their own children. With a spirit of adventure, our school was nomadic, moving from place to place around the island. Today, Island Children's School continues to provide a well-rounded educational experience that focuses on the whole child. We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to develop their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive abilities. With our strong commitment to the growth and success of our students, we strive to make sure that each student has the support they need to reach their full potential.

PRESCHOOL 1
Our Preschool 1 classroom for children from 2.9 through 4 years of age, is centered around imaginative play with a strong focus on social emotional growth.

Our Preschool 2 classroom focuses on the older child who is preparing for kindergarten. Carefully designed environments and richly constructed activities allow our students to explore the world around them, build relationships and make decision that help guide them towards a lifelong love of learning.
