At the Community Music School of Springfield, we believe that everyone should have access to a quality music education. That’s why, since 1983, we have been providing an equitable and inclusive center of excellence in music education to the greater Western Massachusetts community. We are committed to empowering individuals, inspiring creative passion, and promoting well-being through our extensive music education offerings for all ages.
We have been proudly serving the Western Massachusetts community for more than 37 years! Our 127 State Street location in Springfield is home to our non-profit community arts school, which provides a variety of music education programs to more than 2,000 students each year. Our music education offerings are designed to enhance students’ creativity, foster their self-expression, and support their personal growth.

Beginner Piano
This piano course provides an introduction to the piano for students ages 4-6. The class uses electronic keyboards so students can learn to play simple pieces with one or two hands, and begin to acquire healthy, efficient technique at the piano, all in a fun, collaborative, discovery oriented environment. Prorating is available for students who enroll in this class after the school year begins.
Vocal Ensembles - Children
The CCS choruses offer high-quality musical education and creative experiences to children from Kindergarten through high school. CCS is made up of three choruses, each one tailored to the appropriate musical and social development of the singers.
Bucket Drumming Group
In this introductory percussion class, students ages 4-7 use bucket drums to learn the basic concepts of rhythm, drum and stick techniques, and musicality. Students also learn how to listen to others and play in an ensemble. Prorating is available for students who enroll in this class after the school year begins.
