At SCDT, we recognize the importance of supporting independent artists throughout their creative journey. Our team consists of working artists who provide the necessary guidance and support to creators in their art-making, as well as connecting the public, university communities, and local and regional organizations. We believe that the process of creating art is a unique experience for everyone, and we are committed to providing programs that will cater to the needs of independent artists at every stage. Our team of working artists is also dedicated to connecting the public, university communities, and local and regional organizations, allowing independent artists to gain the exposure they need to reach a wider audience. At SCDT, we prioritize inclusivity and diversity. We strive to create a safe space where individuals of all backgrounds can engage in thoughtful movement practices and experiences. CREATIVE MOVEMENT (ages 5-7)

Creative Dance-Making will include creative dance games, stretches and puzzles as a warm-up for our bodies and minds. We will then work on a variety of time, space, and rhythm concepts in a fun and memorable way and build a final performance together using what we've learned, along with our collective and individual imaginations.

THEATERMAKING (ages 9-12)

This ongoing class uses collaborative, playful game structures to explore the elements of theater creation from as many angles as possible, including story, sound, song, image, object, voice and physicality. We will let curiosity lead us onward. We will practice deep listening – to ourselves, the space, and to each other – learning to find our place in a collaborative ensemble. Each session culminates in a collaboratively devised performance to share.

YOUTH HIP HOP (ages 5-8)

This is a high energy class for kids looking to groove and keep rhythm on the latest hip-hop dance styles. This class will develop their confidence, body control, improvisation, and choreographic- performance skills. This class will focus on the teachings of Afrobeat dance, old/new school hip-hop, and reggae dance movements.
