About Community Daycare

At Community Day Learning, we believe in supporting children and their families through a variety of avenues. We work to provide the highest quality of education and care for children by offering engaging programming that meets their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development needs. We assess each child’s individual development and create goals based on the results. In addition, we offer special services on-site, such as speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and mental health therapy. Our staff members are highly qualified and receive ongoing professional development. We maintain the highest standards of competency, holding licenses for all programs from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and operating accredited preschool/kindergarten centers. We also share best teaching practices within Community Day Learning and with our partners, Community Day Charter Public Schools. At Community Day Learning, we strive to create a comprehensive support system that includes a child’s neighborhood, school, cultural group, employer, and local, state, and federal agencies. We are dedicated to ensuring that children are provided with the best education and care possible.

Toddler

Toddlers thrive in an environment that supports language, socialization, and their growing sense of independence. Teacher-caregivers give individual attention to toddlers, guiding them through activities and interactions in small groups.

Preschool

As toddlers develop into preschoolers, they are ready for new challenges. Social and skill-based learning helps preschoolers prepare for success in school. Students develop foundational skills, including literacy, math, and science, while advancing in important social learning, including cooperation, sharing, interacting with others, and understanding emotions. Preschoolers learn about themselves and the world around them through independent, small group, and large group explorations. Classroom learning is extended through on-site visits from museums, storytellers, and music and movement teachers in addition to explorations during field trips.

Kindergarten

Kindergarteners are ready to expand their early learning and develop the foundational skills necessary for a successful elementary experience. Our curricula include Journeys(Literacy), Fundations (Phonemic Awareness), Lucy Calkins’ Writing Workshop (Writing), and enVision (Math). Classroom learning is extended through field trips and a summer camp experience. A typical day includes: a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack; tooth brushing; Morning Meeting with weather and calendar review; whole-group literacy lesson followed by exploration, problem-solving, and interaction at Learning Labs, including Guided Reading; read-aloud and independent reading times; science, art, and social studies centers; gross motor play (outdoors if possible); and a Home Link activity that links learning to life at home.
