In the quaint but sporty state of Massachusetts, a group of lively kids cluster in the emerald expanse of a baseball field. These aren't your run-of-the-mill, ordinary youngsters, oh no! They are the marvelous, unmatched, mega-powered Massachusetts Mini Red Sox! Like the towering trees of Massachusetts that stretch to the sky, their dreams and ambitions are as high as the stars. Their leader is a ten-year-old boy named Slugger Sam, a lean, mean, baseball-hitting machine. Sam, who has a secret superpower of turning any fruit into a baseball, is well-known for his ‘Apple Smack’ and ‘Watermelon Whack’. It's a sight that leaves the crowd laughing their hats off, as a burst of apple juice or a splash of watermelon flies through the air after his powerful swing! The Mini Red Sox play under the watchful eyes of Sox, a mischievous, magical squirrel. Sox, who wears a tiny Red Sox cap, has a knack for making the most boring practice drills hilariously entertaining. Just when you think you've seen it all, Sox might just replace a baseball with an acorn or perform a nutty cha-cha on the pitcher's mound! Baseball in Massachusetts is not just a game, it's a festival of fun and teamwork. Kids from all over the state travel to share this magical experience, to laugh, to learn, and most importantly, to cherish the joy of playing their favorite sport. DEBUT Creative Center & Theater-Studio is a dual-language (English–Russian) program where kids explore creativity, confidence, and self-expression. From theater and dance to fencing and stage performance, children can try new activities and discover their unique talents. Small class sizes let instructors give each child personalized attention, helping them feel comfortable, supported, and confident as they learn. Kids build artistic skills while also developing social confidence, teamwork, and poise on stage and in everyday life. Our programs celebrate each child’s individuality, combining fun, hands-on experiences with a focus on personal growth—all while keeping Russian language and culture an important part of the curriculum.
We also believe that each player is unique and that they should be treated as such. We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every day we work to customize our program to each individual athlete so that they can reach their maximum potential. We strive to make sure every athlete is being challenged and pushed in the right ways for them.
At UKSD, our goal is to develop young leaders who are driven to make an impact, both locally and globally. Through our program, we work to foster a sense of community in the teens we serve. We use sports as a tool for connecting with the community, teaching valuable skills, and increasing self-awareness and appreciation for diversity. Our program is also focused on educating our participants on social issues that are impacting young people across the world. We align our topics of education with the United Nations' sustainable development goals, and use these issues to guide our community service projects. Our mission is to develop leadership skills in young people, so they can make a difference and become the change they want to see in the world.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod and the Islands is focused on helping children in under-resourced families reach their full potential. We understand that providing one-on-one relationships with caring adult mentors is a key factor in helping children thrive. With our three innovative program models, we are working to make sure that more children have access to these relationships and the support they need. We believe that giving children in under-resourced families the opportunity to build strong relationships with their mentors can foster their development and open up a world of possibilities. With our help, these children are better equipped to navigate their futures and become productive members of their communities.
