About Alton Street Dance

At Alton Street Dance, we are dedicated to providing a positive and nurturing atmosphere for all of our dancers. We offer a variety of disciplines and styles, including Acrobatics, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Pointe, and Preschool Creative Movement. Our quality dance training and instruction helps our students develop their skills and techniques, while simultaneously building confidence and self-esteem. We strive to make our studio a place where all feel welcome, and we take pride in our commitment to excellence.

Preschool Creative Dance Age: 3-5 years

Preschool Creative Dance classes for the youngest dancers focus on developing the child. Students will learn basic ballet terms, as well as work on their gross motor skills and their dance class etiquette. Kids also exercise their creativity and imagination as they explore all the elements of dance through age-appropriate movements. This class will keep them moving and having fun.

Ballet class

Ballet is the foundation of all dance and one of the oldest styles of dance. Furthermore, ballet helps dancers improve on their balance, focus, flexibility, strength, musicality, fluidity and expression.

Pointe class and Pre-Pointe class

Pointe class is good for more dedicated dancers who must be at least 12 years of age. Pointe class will teach students the artistry of “dancing on one’s toes”. Students are never placed onto Pointe until they are ready and have been assessed by the instructor. It is considered an honor to be placed onto pointe and should be taken very seriously. Our Pointe class incorporates classical ballet along with some contemporary techniques. You must also take a 1-hour Ballet class in addition to Pointe.
