At Camp Ondessonk, we believe that learning should be exciting and memorable. Our Outdoor and Environmental Education programs provide experiences that are sure to stay with students for a lifetime. Our programs serve as a unique and powerful way to reinforce curricular topics in a fun and engaging way. We provide students with the opportunity to explore the natural environment and to develop an appreciation of the interdependence of the living world. Our programs also emphasize the importance of developing relationships with others and promote personal growth and self-esteem. Camp Ondessonk is committed to providing exceptional outdoor adventures year-round that will have a lasting impact on all who participate.

Traditional Camps

For over 60 years, Traditional Camps have been the Ondessonk favorite. Traditional Camp allows children to learn and perfect skills like canoeing, archery, riflery, horseback riding, and more. At night, campers roast marshmallows over campfires, take part in songs and skits or play an all-camp game of Moonlight Gold Rush. Each unit will also have the opportunity to cook dinner over a campfire and sleep under the stars on Wednesday night. Traditional campers get to live in our unique, rustic units and spend their time at Camp building skills and confidence and making new friends.

Mini Camps

Our Mini Camps are the perfect way to give campers an introduction to the Camp Ondessonk tradition of rustic, nature-based camping in the Shawnee National Forest. With one Ondessonk counselor for every three or four campers, mini campers receive nearly constant guidance and companionship from our caring staff. Incidentally, many of our staff members were once mini campers.

Adventure Camps

Working in small groups with three to four specially-trained staff members, our Adventure Camps allow campers to focus on one set of skills for an entire week. This creates an opportunity for remarkable knowledge and skill growth. Like Traditional campers, Adventure campers are eligible for induction into Lodge, Camp Ondessonk’s service society.
