About Hernando Youth Orchestra

Welcome to the Hernando Youth Orchestra Inc.! We are a non-profit Florida Corporation formed in 2007 with the mission of helping young musicians to discover and explore the joys of orchestral music. We believe that music is an integral part of the cultural fabric of our community and strive to provide a place for young musicians to come together and make beautiful music. At the Hernando Youth Orchestra Inc., we pride ourselves in making it easy for any musician, regardless of experience level, to join the orchestra. We don’t require any auditions or extensive background knowledge – just click on the registration button to join us! We also welcome seasoned musicians to mentor our less experienced players, helping them to become the best musicians they can be. If you are interested in joining us, or attending one of our public concerts, we invite you to learn more about us and find out how you can get involved. We look forward to hearing the beautiful music you can create with us!

MUSIC IN EDUCATION
Exposure to music education is most critical for at-risk youth, even those who have already been arrested and jailed. Studies show the arts can help those troubled youngsters from going back into the criminal justice system. Music can increase their self-esteem, develop creative thinking, problem solving and communications skills. (Remember we presently spend 16.2 million dollars on our jail system in this county - that is your tax money.)
