About SDPL Central Library

The San Diego Public Library is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. This remarkable library provides a wide variety of educational and cultural programs that are open to everyone, regardless of age or background. Last year, an impressive 6.6 million people visited the Library to take part in these activities, making it the largest cultural provider in San Diego. Best of all, every single program is entirely free of charge. Whether you're looking to attend a lecture, join a book club, or attend a movie screening, the San Diego Public Library has something for everyone. With its inviting atmosphere and diverse range of activities, it's no wonder so many people visit the Library each year. Not only can you learn something new and meet interesting people, but you can do it all without having to pay a dime.

The San Diego Public Library is proud to broaden its service range to include children with accessibility needs and their caregivers. This dedicated space is designed with their foremost needs in mind. Technology in the center allows these children to more fully enjoy what the Denny Sandford Children’s Library has to offer. A child can begin to use the available space and equipment in the Center once a parent or caregiver meets with the I CAN, Too! Librarian. The librarian will assess the child’s needs, determine the appropriateness of services and provide an orientation.
