About Tom Sawyer Camps

Tom Sawyer Camps has been a beloved tradition in the Pasadena area since 1926. Every summer, campers ages 3-14 from all over the area get to experience carefree outdoor activities in a rustic setting in the Hahamongna Watershed Park. The camp day is split between scheduled activities such as swimming, horseback riding, archery, and rock wall climbing, and free time where campers can explore and create in the wilderness. During free time, campers can build forts, create dams in the mud river, and complete imaginative challenges. All of these experiences provide campers with an opportunity to get back to nature, just like Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher did in the classic literature.

PRE CAMP AGES 3 TO 5 (CURRENTLY IN TK OR YOUNGER)
truly unique program, Pre Camp was founded in 1966 with the commitment to offer the Tom Sawyer experience to pre-school age children. This is an especially important age for children to learn the joys of sharing outdoor adventures with friends without the restrictions of fences, noise levels, and clean clothes. A Tom Sawyer Pre Camper experiences the fun of exploring make believe territories with their group and builds their confidence by learning to ride our horses and developing swimming skills. Campers are able to develop an open and confident mind, a healthy and well-coordinated body, the ability to cooperate with their peers, and an enthusiastic spirit.

DAY CAMP FOR CAMPERS CURRENTLY IN K-4TH GRADE
The campers are grouped by grade into an all–boys or all–girls group of 12-13 led by 2 Counselors. Group allegiance runs high, and group rivalry is strong but friendly. With guidance from their counselors, group members select their activities. One group may favor group games and activities, another may like playing in their fort and trying to find the flags of other groups, and a third group may prefer to explore the “wild uncharted wilderness areas” just steps away from civilization. Adventures, real and imagined, seem to arise spontaneously, one after another, with the aid of our highly creative staff.
